The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Oct. 8, edition that Desjardins Securities analyst Jerome Dubreuil has reaffirmed his "buy" recommendation for BCE. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Dubreuil gave his share target a $2 trim to $41. Analysts on average target the shares at $37.30. Mr. Dubreuil says in a note: "We expect a relatively uneventful quarter for BCE, with strong media performance offsetting continued pressure on telecom. We believe a contract announcement related to the additional 900MW of Saskatchewan power capacity represents one of the most attractive potential catalysts in the industry. 1,273 reasons to be bullish on AI data centres. In our view, BCE's September announcement regarding the access to an additional 900MW of power for data centre usage was a positive development, but the market largely shrugged it off. This could be due to uncertainty regarding (1) the timing of the project, (2) how the project will be financed, and (3) BCE's customer for the additional 900MW of capacity and overall related economics. However, since we believe access to power remains the most important bottleneck to address compute shortages, this allocation announcement has value on its own."
