The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that Bell Canada and Cohere have released a new artificial-intelligence model designed to assist with cybersecurity investigations as organizations around the world look to harness the technology's defensive capabilities. The Globe's Alexandra Posadzki writes the customized large language model was built with Cohere's technology and trained using data and expertise from Bell Cyber. The telco unit provides security services to customers ranging from small businesses and large companies such as CIBC to the Canadian and Ontario governments. Organizations across the globe have been racing to integrate AI into their cybersecurity defences in response to growing concerns about how hackers can use the technology. "AI works so fast, is doing things so fast that if I don't have AI working for me, I would be dead meat," said Bell Cyber chief executive officer John Menezes. The model was fed nearly a decade's worth of data so it can analyze and summarize complex security information and provide the context needed for investigations. That frees up analysts to focus on higher-level tasks such as validating threats, determining their impact and responding to them, the company said.
