The National Post reports in its Wednesday edition that Bell announced its latest partnership with a Toronto-based e-sports team by insuring their most valuable assets: their fingers. The Post's Lynn Chaya writes that many of the world's greatest athletes insure their most important body parts. Now e-sport players are joining the party. Bell's "Million Dollar Fingers" campaign demonstrates that shift by insuring the fingers of each team member for $1-million, a first for the big telco. Toronto Ultra is a Canadian professional Call of Duty e-sports team consisting of four players. Its parent company, Overactive Media, agreed to a partnership with Bell until 2025, providing the team with a premium gaming experience through its fibre Internet technology. The move to insure the team's fingers comes ahead of the Bell-sponsored Call of Duty Major V tournament held from May 25 to 28. "From texting, to typing and gaming, fingers are essential to the sport, and now the team is fully covered when they compete at the end of the month," a Bell spokesperson told Mobilesyrup. Actor America Ferrera had her smile insured by Aquafresh for a whopping $10-million (U.S.) and model Heidi Klum insured her legs for $2-million (U.S.).
