TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 12/19/14

Asian Mineral Resources Limited ("AMR" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: ASN), which owns one of the world's few new sources of nickel, is pleased to announce the appointment of James Askew as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board, replacing Michael Brown, effective January 1, 2015. Michael Brown will remain as a Non-Executive Director of the company.

Commenting on the changes, Stephen Gill, Non-Executive Director of AMR, said: "We welcome Jim in his role as Chairman of the Board. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Mike for his contribution and leadership during his tenure as Chairman."

Mr. Askew is a mining engineer with over 35 years of international mining and business experience, leading numerous mining service and mining companies. He has served as Director, President and Chairman of International Mining and Finance Corporation (IMF) since January 1997, also as Managing and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Askew currently serves as a Director of Evolution Mining Ltd. and Chairman of Syrah Resources and OceanaGold Corporation. He founded Golden Shamrock Mines, James Askew & Associates (Australian Mining Consultants - AMC) and co-founded Ausdrill.

Company Profile

AMR owns one of the world's few new sources of nickel sulphide and is spearheading the growth of a new nickel district in Vietnam. AMR commenced commercial production at its Ban Phuc nickel mine and processing facility in mid-2013 and currently produces over 6,400 tonnes of nickel and 3,200 tonnes of copper per annum contained in concentrate, plus a cobalt by-product. Ban Phuc production provides a cash-generative platform allowing AMR to lead the development of a nickel camp within its 150km2 of concessions, located throughout the highly-prolific Song Da rift zone. The Company has in- and near-mine expansion projects, as well as multiple advanced stage exploration targets within trucking distance of the processing facility.
