Angkor's EnerCam meets w/ Cambodia gov't re: Block VIII

2025-04-08 17:09 ET - News Release

Ms. Delayne Weeks reports

OIL AND GAS UPDATE - GENERAL DEPARTMENT OF PETROLEUM FOR CAMBODIA MEETS ENERCAM ON BLOCK VIII

Management of Angkor Resources Corp.'s energy subsidiary, EnerCam Resources (Cambodia) Co. Ltd., met with and provided an update to government authorities of the General Department of Petroleum (GDP) regarding the steps and progress of EnerCam's activities on Block VIII.

The production sharing agreement (PSA) on Block VIII is for a 30-year term with potential extensions on production levels. Included in the PSA are various checks and balances in which EnerCam as the contractor, must inform the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) of the activities it is undertaking or planning to undertake for formal approval.

The deputy director of GDP hosted members of the EnerCam management to receive updates on:

  • The EIA (environmental impact assessment);
  • The three Bokor subbasins on Block VIII licence that are of primary interest;
  • The two shallower sedimentary basins on the east side of the licence;
  • The 350-line-kilometre seismic program that will start once the EIA is completed and approved;
  • EnerCam's plans to hire and support training of Khmer people to work in the petroleum industry in all levels that will become Cambodia's future in oil and gas.

EnerCam's intent is to fast-track activities to commence drilling and ensure terms of the PSA are met. The company target is to inform GDP two months in advance of each planned activity. As the technical teams and contractors of EnerCam advance on the licence, management integrates and diarizes the results of all activities. This practice supports both administrative disclosure and the approval process and thereby facilitates the continued progress of all exploration activities.

Environmental impact assessment

As the environmental impact assessment continues across the Block VIII area, Khmer Environmental Contractors are meeting with community members, as well as carrying out water, air and soil sampling. Seismic operations can begin upon approval of a preliminary copy of the completed environmental assessment by the Ministry of Environment and the GDP.

Seismic program

Cambodia does not have any in-country seismic operators. Companies from Canada, China and Thailand have bid on the 350-kilometre program of 2-D seismic. The bidding documents are currently in front of the MME and GDP for review and approval.

Angkor Resources has also entered into an agreement dated April 7, 2025, with an arm's-length marketing firm, Hillside Consulting and Media Inc., to provide digital marketing services to the company, including search engine optimization, pay-per-click, e-mail, YouTube and social media channels, to increase corporate awareness for a term of two weeks. The media disseminated will be generated using publicly available information. The company will pay Hillside a cash fee of $25,000, plus applicable taxes. Neither Hillside nor its principals hold any securities of the company.
