The Investment Reporter, in its May 19, 2023, issue, says buy Atco Ltd., recently $45.33. The Reporter said buy 33 times from Dec. 1, 1995, to April 22, 2022, at prices ranging from $17.75 to $90.09 (the stock split 2 for 1 on Aug. 25, 2005). Assuming an investment of $1,000 for each of the 33 buys, the $33,000 position would now be worth $51,313. Atco is a holding company with nearly 7,000 employees. Most of its subsidiaries are in one of the gas/electricity, construction or logistics industries. In the first quarter of 2023, Atco had adjusted earnings of $1.21 a share, well above the consensus estimate of $1.12. Most of the upside came from the structures business, which benefited from additional earnings from Triple M and increased space rentals. Atco acquired Triple M Housing Ltd. in December, 2022. The company's adjusted earnings of $1.21 a share in Q1 2023 eclipsed its Q1 2022 earnings of $1.17 a share. The company should earn $3.41 a share in 2023; the stock trades at 13.3 times that estimate. In January, Atco increased its quarterly dividend from 46.17 cents a share to 47.56 cents. Annualized, the dividend is equal to an attractive yield of 4.2 per cent. The Reporter says buy Atco.
