PARSIPPANY, N.J. -- (Business Wire)

AdvanSix (NYSE: ASIX), a vertically integrated chemistry company serving diverse end markets, today announced it has been selected to receive $47.4 million in proposed funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) through its Fertilizer Investment & Expansion for Long-Term Domestic Supply (FIELDS) program. This funding will support Project CENTURY (Capacity Expansion for Nitrogen Technology, US Resilience & Yield), a planned $98.1 million multi-year investment to modernize and expand ammonia manufacturing at the AdvanSix Hopewell, Virginia facility. The project is expected to add approximately 84,000 tons of annual ammonia production capacity.

Project CENTURY builds on AdvanSix’s longstanding commitment to American manufacturing and the U.S. agricultural community. The company’s Hopewell facility has a nearly 100-year history of providing a reliable domestic supply of essential nitrogen-based fertilizers. The new investment will expand the company’s ability to serve American farmers while strengthening domestic fertilizer production and supply chain resilience.

“For nearly a century, our teammates in Hopewell have proudly manufactured essential products here in America, including the nutrients farmers depend on to grow the food that feeds our families and communities,” said Erin Kane, President and CEO of AdvanSix. “We are proud to invest in American manufacturing, support American jobs and expand domestic fertilizer production for farmers across the country. We appreciate the Trump Administration and Secretary Rollins’ partnership and commitment to strengthening U.S. manufacturing and American agriculture through Project CENTURY.”

The Trump Administration announced eight projects selected to move forward through the FIELDS funding process to strengthen domestic fertilizer manufacturing, reduce dependence on foreign suppliers and increase long-term fertilizer availability for American farmers, representing more than $1.34 billion in total proposed investment and approximately $573 million in proposed USDA funding.

AdvanSix’s selection builds on an established U.S. manufacturing base in Virginia. Stakeholders supporting the company’s application emphasized the importance of expanding domestic fertilizer production for farmers, jobs and the broader agricultural economy. The Hopewell operations support approximately 1,000 skilled American manufacturing employees and supports the local economy.

“American agricultural infrastructure relies on a stable and secure fertilizer supply chain,” said Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan. “This FIELDS grant award would help provide that stability by allowing AdvanSix to improve its domestic manufacturing capabilities, promote economic development and support working families. Federal investments like this serve as a common-sense way to reduce our reliance on volatile foreign markets and help provide to our farmers the essential resources they need.”

Senator Jordan expanded on the benefits for Virginia’s economy and farmers.

“Agriculture is the backbone of my district’s economy. AdvanSix’s project will support the expansion of Made-in-America fertilizer production, giving the farmers I represent more dependable domestic supply options, reducing exposure to unstable foreign suppliers, and helping lower long-term costs for farmers and the consumers who depend on an affordable, secure food supply,” said Senator Emily M. Jordan, 17th Virginia Senate District.

The City of Hopewell reinforced the local economic benefits.

“From an economic development perspective, this is precisely the type of reinvestment that Hopewell seeks to encourage. Major capital investment in an existing industrial facility demonstrates AdvanSix’s long-term commitment to the community while strengthening the facility’s competitiveness and positioning it for continued operation and future growth,” said Kyle English, Business Retention and Expansion Specialist, City of Hopewell, VA.

Project CENTURY is designed to increase ammonia manufacturing capacity while improving reliability, logistics and supporting infrastructure across the domestic fertilizer supply chain. The investment also complements AdvanSix’s broader strategy to expand its integrated ammonia platform and increase nitrogen nutrition availability for U.S. farmers.

“Reliable and affordable access to fertilizer is essential for Virginia farmers producing food, feed, fiber and forest products,” said Scott Sink, President, Virginia Farm Bureau Federation. “Expanding Made-in-America fertilizer production will help strengthen the domestic supply chain, reduce reliance on unstable foreign suppliers and give farmers more predictable access to one of their most significant input costs.”

The Virginia Soybean Association similarly emphasized the connection between domestic fertilizer manufacturing and farm economics.

“This project will benefit soybean producers and farm families in Virginia and across the nation,” said Rachel Gresham, Executive Director of the Virginia Soybean Association. “More reliable domestic fertilizer production can help reduce supply volatility, support predictable farm input costs across crop rotations and contribute to a more affordable and secure food supply for American families.”

The Company anticipates a multi-year capital investment matched dollar for dollar by the FIELDS grant, supporting attractive financial returns, aligned with the Company’s long-term value creation objectives. The grant is subject to successful completion of the USDA’s administrative and risk reviews.
