STAMFORD, Conn. -- (Business Wire)

Enterprises worldwide are revamping supply chain strategies to sustain business continuity and maintain compliance amid persistent disruption, according to a new research report published today by Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm.

The 2026 ISG Provider Lens® global Supply Chain Services report finds that geopolitical instability, changing trade policies, inflation and labor shortages are exposing weaknesses in traditional supply chain models. Enterprises face growing pressure to improve service levels, optimize inventory positions, reduce costs and respond quickly to market changes. They also need to manage increasingly complex networks of suppliers, operations and distribution partners while meeting new sustainability expectations. These demands have elevated supply chain transformation from an operational initiative to a strategic business imperative.

“Companies have spent years digitizing individual supply chain functions, but multiple disruptions are exposing the cost of siloed decision-making,” said Bob Krohn, ISG partner, Manufacturing. “The priority is now to link risk signals, planning and execution so leaders can act before a local problem becomes a network-wide problem.”

Organizations are modernizing core supply chain operations to improve scalability and responsiveness. They are building integrated planning environments to enable scenario-based decision-making and demand sensing, while using cloud-enabled platforms and hyperautomation to link workflows and reduce manual work.

Enterprises need end-to-end visibility to manage interconnected operations, because fragmented processes and disconnected systems undermine forecast reliability. Control towers are evolving from monitoring platforms into AI-powered hubs for intelligent orchestration. They combine real-time data with predictive intelligence, allowing teams to coordinate decisions across the ecosystem and respond quickly when conditions change.

Risk management is becoming integral to transformation as new regulations and recurring disruptions change the operating environment. Organizations are adopting risk sensing to identify threats before operations are affected. Proactive monitoring provides visibility into supplier exposure and support for strategic decisions. This approach acknowledges resilience and governance as foundational to modern supply chain operations, ISG says.

“A control tower is no longer valuable simply because it shows where goods are,” said Tarun Vaid, ISG principal analyst and lead author of the report. “It delivers value by turning data about multiple supply-chain functions and partners into a coordinated response and establishing clear ownership when disruptions force trade-offs.”

The report also explores other supply chain trends, including the expanding role of collaboration with suppliers and the rise of AI-enabled forecasting to support demand planning, inventory decisions and logistics planning.
