Keysight helps move innovative OTA measurement techniques toward practical application for emerging 6G devices and systems

Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) today announced a new collaboration supporting research at the Berkeley Wireless Research Center (BWRC) that aims to accelerate and improve testing of next-generation wireless devices. Led by Professor Aditya Muppala at the University of California, Berkeley, the research explores a new approach to over-the-air (OTA) testing designed to help engineers better evaluate the performance of increasingly complex 6G devices and systems.
The wireless industry is exploring upper-midband spectrum, often referred to as FR3, as part of the path toward 6G. As devices employ increasingly complex antenna and beamforming architectures, engineers need faster and more flexible ways to characterize how systems transmit and receive energy across three-dimensional space. These challenges are also relevant to advanced radar and non-terrestrial network (NTN) applications.
Professor Muppala’s research will explore new ways to measure radiated performance that could reduce the time and complexity involved in testing advanced wireless systems. By enabling faster, highly accurate measurements and greater flexibility across different frequency bands, the approach has the potential to help engineers evaluate next-generation devices more efficiently, accelerating their path from research to real-world deployment.
