LOUISVILLE, Colo. -- (Business Wire)
Infleqtion (NYSE: INFQ), a global leader in quantum computing and quantum sensing powered by neutral-atom technology, announced the appointment of Chris O’Brien as Managing Director of Infleqtion Australia effective immediately. In this role, O’Brien will lead Infleqtion’s operations in Australia, advancing the Company’s mission to transform quantum research into deployable capabilities for defense, security, and commercial sectors. O’Brien is joining Infleqtion after it recently became a publicly listed company trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “INFQ.”
O’Brien joins Infleqtion from L3Harris Technologies, where he served as Director of Business Development. He has also previously worked at Northrop Grumman Australia, where he served as the Australian-direct lead reporting to the Missile Defense and Protective Systems Division’s International Operating Unit.
Before entering the private sector, O’Brien served in the Australian Army, participating in military operations and specializing in Air and Missile Defence, Unmanned Systems and C4ISR technologies. During his military career, he has held various roles in Command & Leadership, Operations & Training and Force Modernization.
“Australia is building real momentum in quantum and defense innovation, and Infleqtion is committed to being a long-term partner,” said Matt Kinsella, CEO of Infleqtion. “Chris brings deep expertise in defense acquisition cycles and complex stakeholder engagement. Under his leadership at Infleqtion Australia, we will deepen our engagement across government agencies, industry, and research institutions, while continuing to advance deployable quantum capabilities designed for operational use.”
“Quantum is moving quickly from research into operational use across defense, security, and enterprise,” said O’Brien. “Infleqtion Australia has a real opportunity to help bridge that gap, and I am excited to deepen our work with government agencies, industry partners, and research institutions, working to deliver deployable capability for customers and operators.” O’Brien holds a bachelor’s degree in arts, a master’s degree in systems engineering (Space Systems), and a master’s degree in project management focused on Defence Capability Development and Acquisition from the University of New South Wales. He is also a graduate of the Royal Military College.
Infleqtion Australia is proud to be among the 21 organizations selected by the Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA) to deliver work under the Emerging and Disruptive Technologies (EDT) program, within the Quantum Sensing, Measurement and Communications (QT1) opportunity. Now at the halfway point of the contract, Infleqtion’s team continues to advance the company’s mission to establish hands‑on access to cutting‑edge quantum systems locally and to accelerate the development of technologies that provide meaningful operational benefit.
In addition, Infleqtion Australia has successfully completed a contract with the Australian Army Research Centre through the Quantum Technology Challenge to develop and deploy Quantum Physically Unclonable Functions (QPUFs), strengthening the security and resilience of future defense systems.
