BARBIE CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WITH FIRST-EVER BARBIE DREAM TEAM OF GLOBAL FEMALE ROLE MODELS.

BARBIE CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY WITH FIRST-EVER BARBIE DREAM TEAM OF GLOBAL FEMALE ROLE MODELS.

Barbie knows that seeing is believing, and that access to accomplished female role models can expand what girls imagine for themselves. Since Barbie debuted in 1959, the brand has spotlighted more than 100 women across industries and communities who have driven meaningful change. Through these stories, Barbie continues to increase representation and broaden what’s possible for the next generation.

This year’s global Barbie Dream Team honors women who were among the first in their fields, including:

  • Serena Williams (Global): Tennis Legend with 23 Grand Slam singles titles, entrepreneur, and global icon.
  • Kellie Gerardi (United States): Research astronaut and payload specialist.
  • Regina SirventAlvarado (Mexico): Professional race car driver and one of the most prominent figures in motorsport in Mexico.
  • Chloe Kelly (United Kingdom): Professional footballer and a defining face of modern women’s football.
  • Helene Fischer (Germany): One of Germany’s most famous and influential contemporary pop artists.
  • Zoja Skubis (Poland): Youngest Polish woman to summit Manaslu (8,163 m) and Mount Everest (8,849 m).
  • Stephanie Gilmore (Australia): Professional surfer and the first woman to achieve eight World Surf League (WSL) World Championship Titles.
  • Smriti Mandhana (India): The first Indian woman cricketer to score a century in all three formats (T20, Test and ODI).

“Barbie has always championed the belief that girls can be anything. From astronauts to CEOs, Barbie has broken barriers and redefined what’s possible – igniting imagination and inspiring generations of girls to dream without limits,” said Nathan Baynard, Vice President and Head of Barbie, Mattel. “This International Women’s Day, we’re proud to build on that legacy with the launch of our Barbie Dream Team, celebrating an extraordinary group of global trailblazers who are paving the way for the next generation. By honoring their achievements, we hope to inspire girls everywhere to pursue their passions boldly and realize their limitless potential.”

“I have always drawn inspiration from the powerful women in my life – from my mom, sisters, and daughters to the dolls in my toy box growing up,” said Serena Williams, Tennis Legend and Entrepreneur. “Now, I’m thrilled to be honored alongside this incredible group of female changemakers as part of the Barbie Dream Team. Just like so many women have empowered me to turn my fear into courage and doubt into confidence, I hope we can do the same by championing girls everywhere to pick up a racquet, become an entrepreneur, or do whatever ignites their passion and brings their dreams to life.”

“I’m so excited to join the Barbie Dream Team to celebrate International Women’s Day and show girls everywhere that science and space are for everyone. After helping open the door for scientists to fly and operate their own research on commercial spacecraft and walking through it myself as a payload specialist and astronaut, it's now my mission to hold that door open wider for the next generation of girls to follow," said Kellie Gerardi, Research Astronaut. “When you’re brave enough to leave your comfort zone and dream big, not even the sky is the limit.”

Inspired by the Barbie Dream Team and the Barbie brand’s legacy of possibility, Barbie is inviting fans to celebrate their own dreams through Barbie Dream Days, a global celebration featuring limited-time offers on Barbie dolls and accessories. In the U.S., fans can take part in special promotions at major retailers including Walmart, Amazon and Target from March 8 to 15. Learn more at https://shop.mattel.com/pages/barbie.

To further amplify the voices of female changemakers this International Women’s Day, Barbie is spotlighting partnerships with six female-founded beauty, fashion and beverage brands, including FHI Heat, Stoney Clover Lane, GK, Unique Vintage, Besita Boots and Moment. Highlights include the Barbie™ x Besita Boots collection, featuring three bold designs inspired by confidence and self-expression; a vintage-inspired apparel collaboration with Unique Vintage celebrating inclusivity and individuality; FHI Heat’s professional-grade Barbie UNbrush and styling tools designed to spark creativity; Moment’s botanical infused beverages promoting mindfulness and mood boost; a special Barbie offering from GK Elite and GK Cheer, leaders in gymnastics and cheer apparel; and a new Barbie-inspired collection from Stoney Clover Lane.
