Canada NewsWire

  • BMO and MoneyPrep will provide teachers across Canada with financial literacy lessons and classroom tools at no cost
  • Curriculum-aligned resources help elementary students learn practical skills in saving, spending, budgeting and financial decision-making, building financial literacy and confidence from an early age
  • Partnership builds on BMO's leadership in financial education and commitment to helping Canadians achieve real financial progress

TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2026 /CNW/ -- BMO today announced an exclusive strategic partnership with MoneyPrep to bring financial literacy education to more elementary students across Canada. The initiative will help young Canadians build a stronger foundation early, gain confidence to make informed financial decisions and achieve real financial progress.

As financial literacy moves higher on the national agenda, foundational financial skills are increasingly being incorporated into school curricula as early as Grade 1. This growing focus reflects broader efforts across Canada to strengthen financial literacy, including through the federal government's National Financial Literacy Strategy. Through the partnership, teachers across Canada can use practical, classroom-ready lessons and tools at no cost to help students build essential money skills. Teachers can sign up for free access at www.moneyprep.com.

"Helping young people build strong financial knowledge early in life creates a foundation for lifelong financial well-being," said Andras Lazar, Head, Everyday Banking, Segments & Personal Lending, BMO. "We are proud to partner with MoneyPrep to help bring engaging financial education resources into classrooms and support educators in preparing students for the future. By investing in financial literacy at an early age, we're helping the next generation build confidence and the skills they need to make informed financial decisions and achieve real financial progress."

"Financial literacy is one of the most important life skills that young people can develop," said Pam Liyanage, CEO, MoneyPrep. "Through our partnership with BMO, we're expanding access to engaging educational resources that help students build practical financial skills and confidence from an early age."

As financial decisions become increasingly complex, introducing money concepts at a young age can help students build the practical skills and confidence to navigate everyday choices. By learning how to save, spend thoughtfully and plan toward a goal, children can establish a foundation for lifelong financial well-being and greater financial resilience.

The initiative builds on BMO's long-standing commitment to helping Canadians strengthen their financial knowledge, make informed decisions and achieve real financial progress. BMO also offers digital tools and resources that help clients learn about personal finance and work toward their goals, including:
