The Investment Reporter, in its Jan. 29, 2016, issue, refreshes its buy of Transcontinental Inc., recently $16.41. The Reporter said buy 20 times from April 18, 2003, to Oct. 23, 2015, at prices ranging from $9.11 to $24.80. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each of the 20 buys, the $20,000 position is now worth $20,971. The printing company has won a five-year contract to print Canada's largest daily newspaper, the Toronto Star, beginning July, 2016. This will add little to Transcontinental's financial results for the fiscal year ending Oct. 31, 2016, but should contribute to fiscal 2017 numbers and beyond. The company plans to print the Toronto Star at the same plant it prints The Globe and Mail, which means it will need minimal investment to fulfill this new contract. Buy for long-term share price gains and attractive, rising dividends.
