Shaw to air new season of Unusually Thicke Sept. 3

2015-07-29 13:42 ET - News Release

Mr. Greg Fast reports

ALAN THICKE AND CO. CONTEND WITH GROWING RENO PAINS IN UNUSUALLY THICKE: UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Thickes are going through major changes this fall, both in their personal lives and at home in a wall-destroying and star-studded new season of the Canadian original series, Unusually Thicke: Under Construction. While everyone's favourite TV dad, Canada's own Alan Thicke, co-ordinates his workload of TV and film appearances, his wife Tanya Thicke is ready to inject some youthful energy into their home with her list of contemporary renovations. Premiering with back-to-back episodes Sept. 3, 2015, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Shaw Communications Inc.'s HGTV Canada, Unusually Thicke: Under Construction follows Alan Thicke, Ms. Thicke and son Carter Thicke as they juggle their fascinating daily lives with the challenges of home improvements.

While Alan Thicke keeps busy with everything from serving as a corporate spokesperson to fulfilling his passion for celebrity golf tournaments, he must also make time to play his cards wisely at home as he clashes with Ms. Thicke over renovation decisions. From their bedroom to the backyard, no part of the house is off limits, and Alan Thicke leaves no cushion unturned when he orders a germ inspection, which reveals some disturbing news. When the renos become too much to handle, Alan Thicke and Ms. Thicke make a temporary escape in a different kind of home, an RV (recreational vehicle). Their life on the road is soon cut short as Ms. Thicke receives alarming photos of their ambitious kitchen renovation gone horribly wrong. Whether he's trying to keep an eye on Carter Thicke with new home security cameras or just trying to keep his noisy neighbours at bay, Alan Thicke proves that even Hollywood stars have everyday problems.

"Canadians loved following Alan and his family in the hit first season of Unusually Thicke, and with their renovation plans taking off, HGTV Canada is the perfect home for the highly anticipated second season," said Christine Shipton, senior vice-president and chief creative officer, Shaw Media. "Unusually Thicke: Under Construction provides a further glimpse into the captivating every day lives of Alan, Tanya and Carter as they not only juggle renovation priorities but the growing pains and speed bumps that every family experiences."

The new season has no shortage of star power as celebrity guests this season include fellow Canadians Russell Peters, Alex Trebek, Dave Foley, Jon Dore and Alan's son Robin Thicke, with additional surprises from the likes of Lance Bass, Wayne Brady, Cedric the Entertainer, Gilbert Gottfried, Cat Cora, Kato Kaelin and Lou Ferrigno.

Unusually Thicke is produced by Peacock Alley Entertainment in association with HGTV Canada.
