Taylor comments on Starcore International

2015-03-27 20:34 ET - In the News

Jay Taylor, in the March 16, 2015, edition of Gold, Energy & Tech Stocks, comments on Starcore International Mines Ltd., recently 14.5 cents. Mr. Taylor first said buy on Sept. 16, 2008 at 15 cents, and then said sell on Dec. 15, 2009, at 17.5 cents. Assuming a $1,000 investment, selling the position at 17.5 cents yielded a $146 profit. Mr. Taylor said buy five more times between Feb. 17, 2012, and Nov. 14, 2014, at prices ranging from 13.5 cents to 38 cents. Assuming a $1,000 investment for each of the five new buys, the $5,000 position is now worth $3,426. Starcore has acquired Creston Moly Corp., a subsidiary of Mercator Minerals Ltd., for $2-million. Both companies filed for bankruptcy in 2014. Mr. Taylor says the acquisition seems out of character for Starcore because it has been exploring for gold and silver, yet Creston holds three molybdenum-copper projects in Mexico, British Columbia and Newfoundland. The most significant of the three he says, is the El Creston project in Mexico, which has undergone a preliminary economic assessment that showed a $561.9-million (U.S.) NPV and a 22.3-per-cent IRR. Mr. Taylor says he will comment further when it becomes clear what Starcore plans to do with the new projects.
