ORGANIGRAM RECEIVES ORGANIC CERTIFICATION FOR MEDICAL MARIJUANA GROWING PROCESS

OrganiGram Holdings Inc.'s facility based in Moncton, N.B., is the first medical marijuana production facility in Canada to receive internationally recognized organic certification. The company received its organic certification on Oct. 10, 2014, from ECOCERT.

ECOCERT provides inspection and certification for sustainable development. The certification process includes validation of ingredients, production methods and preparation procedures according to Canadian and U.S. Department of Agriculture regulation. Organic certification aims to guarantee the organic integrity of products throughout the entire production chain.

Randy Fleming, master grower, stated: "Growing organically allows us to provide our customers with the highest-quality, chemical-free medicine possible. We achieve this without the use of pesticides, synthetic nutrients and without irradiation or cold pasteurization. Growing our product organically allows us to release the plants full genetic potential, delivering complex terpene profiles our customers will find very appealing."

ECOCERT is one of the world leaders in the certification of organic farming products. Accredited by the USDA for the NOP (national organic program) and MAFF for JAS in Japan, as well as being approved by many countries on the basis of national regulations, ECOCERT ensures access to organic farming markets.

ECOCERT's basic task consists in guaranteeing the rigorous respect of the applied standards on products, systems or services. The issuance of the certificate acts as a security for the consumer or the user.
