New York spot gold reclaimed $5.50 to $1,177.10 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 9.83 points to 749.37 while the TSX Gold Index added 5.82 points to 194.24. Although Alacer Gold Corp. (ASR) lost two cents to $2.53 on 2.24 million shares, most Canadian gold miners had a good day. Detour Gold Corp. (DGC) led the rally, gaining $1.58 to $17.99 on 2.82 million shares.
Chris Anderson's Ximen Mining Corp. (XIM), up one cent to eight cents on 21,000 shares, has granted Rob Birmingham's New Destiny Mining Corp. (NED: $0.22) an option to earn a 100-per-cent interest in its Treasure Mountain gold project, near Hope in southwestern British Columbia. To do so, New Destiny agreed to make staged payments of $400,000 in cash or stock and to spend $750,000 on exploration, each over a four-year period. (New Destiny has been halted much of this week pending news; perhaps this was the promised news but the stock remains halted.)
