The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a rousing 79-46-141. The TSX Venture Exchange gained nine points to 730 while polished diamond prices rose 0.1 per cent. Dominion Diamond Corp. (DDC), reclaimed 41 cents to $11.43 on 910,000 shares, despite whispers about the profitability of its Jay project and a three-month delay in diamond production at Ekati, thanks to a recent fire.

Peter Howe and Richard Williams's Waseco Resources Inc. (WRI), up 1.5 cents to 5.5 cents on 10,000 shares, says it "has participated in a geophysical survey" on the 1,000-hectare Attawapiskat diamond project near De Beers Canada's Victor mine in Northern Ontario, in which it holds a 5-per-cent interest. The statement should have the company's accountants scratching their heads, as Waseco has not paid any exploration expenses on the project since 2010, nor have any of its co-venturers. Nevertheless, Mr. Williams, president, says "discussions of a preliminary nature are currently taking place" with certain other mining companies and representatives of the local Indians.
