Unity Energy starts sampling at Miller's Crossing

2016-05-04 09:20 ET - News Release

Mr. Ian Graham reports

UNITY ENERGY CORP. BEGINS GROUND SAMPLING PROGRAM AT MILLERS CROSSING LITHIUM PROJECT, NEVADA

Unity Energy Corp. has commenced its phase 1 subsurface short-hole sampling program to test brine sediments on its 100-per-cent-owned Miller's Crossing lithium project in the Big Smoky Valley in Nevada. The company's field crew is currently on site at the Miller's Crossing project, and this stage of reconnaissance drilling should be completed within seven days, after which sediment samples will be assayed for lithium and other commercial elements.

Phase 1 sampling is to consist of 10 to 12 hand-auger holes, drilled to a depth of between two metres to four metres, to sample surface layers for target elements and to refine drill target selection for phase 2 drilling, which will utilize powered drills and reach depths of up to 60 metres. The company expects to receive permits for the phase 2 drilling later this month.

The results of this program will be considered alongside historical gravity survey data to develop a detailed exploration plan for the property, which will culminate in phase 3 deep-hole drilling.

The Millers Crossing project fits well into the playa-type brine deposit model as it shares geological similarities with Clayton Valley, the only lithium-producing brine operation in North America. A playa is an internally drained brine deposit, the surface of which is primarily composed of silts and clays in which lithium can accumulate from the surrounding source rocks during successive evaporation and concentration events.

Regarding the initiation of the field program, chief executive officer Ian Graham commented: "We are very excited to put boots on the ground in the Big Smoky Valley, and we aim to have preliminary results to shareholders in the near future. The market outlook for lithium, which is chiefly utilized in lithium-ion batteries, is very positive, and we are focused on ensuring Unity plays a leading role in bringing compelling lithium production opportunities to the mine development sector."
