Nevada Clean hires Silvertip to design test equipment

2014-07-24 09:53 ET - News Release

Mr. Edward Lee reports

NEVADA CLEAN MAGNESIUM COMMISSIONS SILVERTIP DESIGNS NW TO DESIGN KEY TEST EQUIPMENT

Nevada Clean Magnesium Inc., in association with continuing development of its Tami-Mosi magnesium project in north-central Nevada, has commissioned Silvertip Designs NW to design a necessary piece of test equipment to enable optimized performance of the company's planned bench-scale furnace. Edward Lee, chairman and chief executive officer of Nevada Clean, stated, "We are very pleased to be expanding our relationship with Silvertip Designs, the firm responsible for producing superb designs and detailed engineering plans for our pilot reduction furnace."

Pursuant to this follow-on commission, Silvertip has been tasked with designing a modified thermogravimetric analyzer (TGA) capable of operating under the conditions necessary for the furnace to produce magnesium metal from dolomite. Generally speaking, a TGA applies heat in a controlled fashion and measures any mass change incurred by the test sample. By noting the temperature and duration of these physical changes, raw material quality can be defined and process optimization quantified. The TGA method is a widely used technique in the pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries for assessing the composition, quality and production of a material. James Sever, president of Nevada Clean, noted, "Using samples of dolomite from the Tami-Mosi project site, the TGA being designed by Silvertip will provide us with critical data and insight on the performance of dolomite calcination conditions, raw material morphology and briquetting conditions."

Continuing, Mr. Sever added, "With optimum operation parameters defined and the data confirmed by the test furnace, we will apply this knowledge to optimize the operation of our bench furnace and the eventual upscaled pilot reduction furnace to be developed for magnesium production at Tami-Mosi, thus reducing both the cost and time required to commercially produce magnesium metal from the company's dolomite resources."
