Mr. Martin Shefsky reports
NORTHERN GOLD INTERSECTS 7.41 G/T AU OVER 6.5 M AT JONPOL EAST ZONE
Northern Gold Mining Inc. has released results from the 34 diamond drill holes from its surface diamond drilling program on the East zone of the Jonpol deposit of the Golden Bear project, 100 kilometres east of Timmins, Ont. The 34 drill holes totalled 8,370 metres.
Drill assay highlights for the drill holes include:
- 7.41 grams per tonne (g/t) gold (Au) over 6.5 m (74.5 to 81.0 m) in GAR-13-291;
- 4.52 g/t Au over 20.0 m (103.0 to 123.0 m) in GAR-13-293;
- 5.73 g/t Au over 7.4 m (49.0 to 56.4 m) in GAR-13-294.
Martin Shefsky, president and chief executive officer of Northern Gold, commented: "This phase of drilling successfully intersected an area of high-grade mineralization with significant widths in the Jonpol East zone that had previously not been tested. The drilling also suggests that portions of the East zone remain open at depth, with possible mineralized extensions down plunge to the east."

Jonpol East zone sections 11-25W to 13-75W
Drill holes GAR-12-256 to GAR-12-259 and GAR-12-271 to GAR-12-283 were all drilled in the Jonpol East zone and targeted above 200 m depth from sections 11-25W to 13-75W. These holes were designed to test mineralization along the footwall contact between the Munro fault and mafic volcanic rock to the north, near where historic drilling had previously intersected gold mineralization. While most of the holes intersected the footwall contact and a persistent horizon of graphite/sulphide mineralization many of the gold values were low. Drilling below this location has proven successful at depth suggesting an apparent plunge east.
Drill hole GAR-12-255 was collared within the Garrcon deposit and targeted the Jonpol East zone along Section 12-25W at an approximate depth of 350 m. This hole successfully intersected mineralization within the Garrcon North zone, the Green zone and in the deeper section of the East zone supporting the interpretation that the mineralization plunges moving east.
Jonpol East zone sections 14-25W to 17-75W
Drill holes GAR-12-284 to GAR-12-290 and GAR-13-291 to GAR-13-294 were drilled in the Jonpol East zone and targeted above the 200 m depth from sections 14-25W to 17-75W. These holes were designed to test for gold mineralization within the Munro fault; many of the holes were successful at intersecting Albite-type mineralization hosted in green carbonate schist within the Munro fault which is typical of the Jonpol East zone. Drilling along sections 17-25W to 17-75W successfully intersected an area of high-grade mineralization in holes GAR-13-291, 293 and 294. This region had previously been untested. Several areas within the Jonpol East zone remain open at depth.
Munro fault sections
Two holes were drilled an additional 1,000 m along strike of the Jonpol East zone and targeted the Munro fault. GAR-12-265 and GAR-12-164X were drilled along Section 1-50W and intersected the Munro fault but it was significantly narrower than farther west. GAR-12-164X was an extension of a Garrcon deposit drill hole and targeted a deeper section of the Munro fault. Both holes intersected mineralization in the hangingwall metasediments along one of the Green zone horizons but failed to intersect any significant values in the Munro fault.
Quality assurance/quality control
Northern Gold has implemented comprehensive, industry-standard quality assurance/quality control protocols for diamond drilling, core recovery, handling, sampling, shipping and assaying. Details of these best practice principles can be viewed on the company's website.
