ROB MCEWEN AND GREG CHAMANDY ADD TO THEIR STRATEGIC INVESTMENT IN MONARQUES GOLD

Evanachan Ltd., a corporation controlled by Robert McEwen, and Oxbridge Group Inc., a corporation controlled by Greg Chamandy, have both increased their investments in Monarques in a transaction carried out privately. The transaction increases their holdings in Monarques by 2.68 per cent, and each now owns 13.68 per cent of the company's outstanding shares.

Jean-Marc Lacoste, president and chief executive officer of Monarques, stated: "We are pleased to have these strategic investors in our shareholder base. Monarques will progress steadily with the support of long-term shareholders like Mr. Chamandy and McEwen owning together more than 27 per cent of our common shares."
