The Financial Post reports in its Friday, Feb. 14, edition that Sentry Investments Fund managers Jon Case and Kevin MacLean recommend buying Klondex Mines ($1.91). The Post's Jonathan Ratner writes in the Buy & Sell column that the managers bought Klondex stock in 2014. Klondex owns a high-grade deposit in Nevada, but Mr. Case considers the acquisition of the Midas mill a game-changer because it allows the company to process its own ore. He points out the purchase was partly financed by an investment from Franco-Nevada Corp., which has a very strong technical group. Mr. Case says, "That is a stamp of approval for the asset and the company. ... It could have one of the best cost profiles in the industry because of these high grades." Mr. Case says, "Companies that generate cash are best suited for this environment. ... We don't really see any free cash flow coming out of the large-cap golds." Mr. MacLean believes the current out-of-favour environment makes it an ideal time for investing in precious metals. Mr. MacLean says, "We think the best risk/reward of almost any asset class out there right now is in the gold space, and this is already coming to pass in the market."
