GUYANA GOLDFIELDS INC. ADDED TO THE S&P/TSX COMPOSITE INDEX AND NYSE ARCA GOLD MINERS INDEX

Guyana Goldfields Inc. will be added to the S&P/TSX Composite Index and the NYSE Arca Gold Miners Index, effective after the close of trading on Friday, June 17, 2016. S&P Dow Jones Canadian Index Services announced this addition on June 10, 2016, following results of its quarterly review.

Scott Caldwell, president and chief executive officer of the company, stated: "We have built a strong foundation for future growth and value creation for our shareholders over recent years, and inclusion in these indices validates our progress. The indices are also a performance benchmark for many mutual and pension funds, and will bring future liquidity and investment in the company and increase shareholder value."

The S&P/TSX Composite is the headline index for the Canadian equity market. It is the broadest in the S&P/TSX family and is the basis for multiple subindices, including, but not limited to, equity indices, income trust indices, capped indices, GICS (global industry classification standard) indices and market-cap-based indices.
