Finavera Wind Energy Inc. denies that it owes money to Rain City Strategies Inc., a contractor that was supposed to help it negotiate business agreements with Indian groups. The company admits to hiring Rain City, but says the firm's work did not meet expectations.

Finavera is responding to a lawsuit it faces from Rain City in the Supreme Court of British Columbia over an unpaid invoice. According to the suit, Rain City performed work related to Finavera's Tumbler Ridge and Wildmare wind projects beginning on Sept. 26, 2011. The suit complained that after the work was done, Finavera did not pay a Jan. 5, 2012, invoice for $40,320.
