FP says Enbridge's two new pipes will help with prices

The Financial Post reports in its Saturday edition that Canada will be a leader in the decline in oil production growth this year, according to a new forecast by the International Energy Agency (IEA). The Post's Yadullah Hussain writes that the IEA said Friday it expects Canadian oil output will rise to 4.3 million barrels per day in 2015, about 95,000 barrels a day below the previous month's forecast. Enbridge's Illinois-to-Oklahoma Flanagan South pipeline and Enterprise Products Partners' Oklahoma-to-Texas Seaway Twin pipeline started delivering mostly Canadian heavy crude to the Gulf Coast last December. Alberta Premier Jim Prentice says his province's conventional production will see modest declines, but oil sands production will increase by a healthy amount "because capital has been invested and there is no turning back at this point." The increase means Alberta will boost its production to as much as 3.4 million barrels a day by the end of the year. The start of the two pipelines "is a really important step for us as Albertans," says Mr. Prentice. He says Alberta crude "will get superior prices and have the best market access." The Canadian energy index in Toronto rose 6.14 per cent Friday.
