CLEAR BLUE TECHNOLOGIES' SMART CITY LIGHTS REPLACE THE GRID IN LONG ISLAND PROJECT

Clear Blue Technologies International Inc. has collaborated with Pullman SST Inc. to illuminate the top level of a 1,400-space parking garage in Hicksville, N.Y., for the town of Oyster Bay, using Clear Blue's Illumient Smart Off-Grid lighting systems.

In total, 20 Illumient lighting systems were installed on the roof during a refurbishment of the parking garage, replacing lights that were connected to the grid. Replacing the old conduit wiring for the grid-connected lights would have required drilling through the cement structure of the parking garage. Not only is this costly, but it could have compromised the structural integrity of the garage. Installing Clear Blue's wirelessly powered and remotely managed lighting systems eliminated this requirement to replace the wiring, while not compromising on durability, reliability or aesthetics.

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino stated: "The Town of Oyster Bay has become a local leader in renewable energy initiatives. The use of solar panels on the Hicksville commuter parking garage will allow taxpayers to save money annually while properly lighting this facility with the latest technology on the market. From solar panels on the garage to the use of LED streetlights and same-day solar permits for homeowners, Oyster Bay is paving the way for a brighter future."

Illumient Smart Off-Grid solar lighting systems connect wirelessly to the Internet, sending real-time information to Clear Blue Technologies' cloud-based software, Illumience. This enables remote control, monitoring and management of the lighting systems, ensuring high reliability and low maintenance costs. Illumience also allows service personnel to optimize lighting profiles, such as dimming the lights during periods of prolonged bad weather to preserve battery power, and also includes automated monitoring and alerts.

According to a recent report by Wood MacKenzie, 71 per cent of new electric connections will be off-grid or mini-grid by 2030. Solar street lighting will account for some of this and, according to Transparency Market Research, global market size is projected to reach $17.78-billion (U.S.) in revenue by 2024, a compound annual growth rate of 23.23 per cent from 2016 to 2024.
