Former Bonterra Resources Inc. director Patrick Joseph Meagher and others have filed a lawsuit against the company in the Supreme Court of British Columbia after the company ended their contracts. They say that Bonterra terminated their agreements earlier this year for no reason. They are seeking appropriate damages, including $246,000 in fees.
The allegations are contained in a notice of claim filed at the Vancouver courthouse on April 26, 2019. The suit was filed by six consultants, including Mr. Meagher and his private company, Meagher Consulting Inc. The others are Dominic Verdejo, Carrie Cesarone, Athena Ventures Inc. and 0910978 B.C. Ltd.
The brief suit explains how Mr. Meagher and the others entered into consulting agreements with Bonterra in the first half of 2017. The agreements, as set out in the suit, contained specific terms relating to termination. If Bonterra were to end a consultant's agreement without cause, it would have to pay 12 months of fees, the suit claims. The money was to be payable within 30 days.
