Christine Petraglia, a New York woman accused of deceiving investors with a paid touting scheme, denies that she did anything wrong. She says that she was merely providing investor relations services. The articles she had published, including those on Vancouver-linked Anavex Life Sciences Corp., were truthful, she contends.
Ms. Petraglia, 49, is responding to civil charges that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed against her and others on April 10, 2017. The regulator said that she had articles published on public companies that deceived investors into believing that impartial writers had prepared the material. The articles appeared on investing websites such as Seeking Alpha.
For her part, Ms. Petraglia says that there was nothing wrong with her actions. In an answer filed on June 26, 2017, she contends that she acted with "honesty, integrity and good faith." Her company, called CSIR Group LLC, provided what she describes as lawful public relations and investor relations services. These services included hiring writers who prepared truthful articles about CSIR's clients, the answer states.
