The TSX Venture Exchange gained a fraction to close at 623.18 Tuesday. Bruce Bent has listed his first capital pool shell, Winston Capital Group Inc. (WNST: $0.35), following a $500,000 initial public offering at 10 cents. Its IPO agent was Mackie Research Capital Corp. Winston's stock began trading today, opening at 30 cents and closing at 35 cents on 21,900 shares.

Mr. Bent, 62, lives in Mississauga. Since 1999, he has been the chief financial officer of Matthews Southwest Inc., a real estate developer in Dallas with projects in the United States, Canada and the United Arab Emirates. Mr. Bent is also the president of this company's Canadian operations.

From 2006 to 2010, Mr. Bent was a director of Nordex Explosives Ltd., a maker of explosives for mining and construction companies. While he was there, the stock traded between 12 cents and $1.05. Nordex has since gone private. From 2009 to 2011, Mr. Bent was the chairman of Axiotron Corp., the maker of a tablet computer called Modbook. Axiotron traded no higher than five cents while he was its chairman. Unprofitable and debt-ridden, the company delisted in 2011. These days, Mr. Bent is a director of Enerdynamic Hybrid Technologies Corp. (EHT: $0.055), a maker of energy-efficient construction materials as well as solar panels.
