The TSX Venture Exchange lost 6.86 points to 754.40 Friday, ending the week down 20.82 points. James Hutton's first capital pool shell, Owl Capital Corp. (OCC: $0.30), began trading today, following a $200,000 initial public offering at 10 cents through Haywood Securities Inc. The stock opened at 26 cents and closed at 30 cents on 119,200 shares. Owl Capital plans to seek an industrial or technology deal for its qualifying transaction. To help it along in its search, the shell has arranged a $1.5-million private placement at 10 cents.

Mr. Hutton has been involved with public companies for more than 30 years. In the late 1990s, he and Rob McMorran had a Scandinavian gold promotion, Viking Gold Corp., which peaked at $1.25. In the 2000s, Mr. Hutton and Gunther Roehlig led a Saskatchewan uranium explorer, Terra Ventures Inc., which peaked at $1.03. Terra Ventures was acquired for $24-million worth of shares by its joint venturer, Hathor Exploration Ltd.
