The TSX Venture Exchange rose 1.60 points to 778.45 Friday, ending the week up 8.98 points. Clive Johnson and Harry Pokrandt's capital pool shell, BQ Metals Corp. (BQ), resumed trading today after dropping its qualifying transaction with 112430 B.C. Ltd. The stock fell 13.5 cents to 26 cents on 366,500 shares. 112430 B.C. was in the process of acquiring "an operating mine with a development asset, located in Europe." Presumably the mine was a base metals mine, because the shell has been hoping to launch a base metals promotion. BQ Metals explained the deal is off because the shell failed to meet the financing condition. It needed to sell a $75-million private placement at 85 cents. The shareholders of 112430 B.C. include Derek White and the Traxys Group. Mr. White, an accountant in Vancouver, is a principal of Traxys Capital Partners LLP, a private equity firm that focuses on mining investments. From 2004 to 2012, Mr. White was the executive vice-president of business development at copper producer Quadra FNX Mining Ltd. (which is now a part of Polish copper miner KGHM Polska Miedz SA).
