The TSX Venture Exchange closed up 6.74 points to 686.42 Monday. Steve Forget's capital pool shell, Cortina Capital Corp. (CCN), has listed on the TSX-V and will begin trading tomorrow. Haywood Securities Inc. sold the shell's $200,000 initial public offering of two million shares at 10 cents. Cortina is the 11th capital pool shell to list this year. By this time last year, seven shells had listed.

Cortina is Mr. Forget's third capital pool shell. His first shell launched a chain of U.S. and Canadian ear clinics in 1997, and his second shell launched a medical device company in 2005. Neither resulting issuer remains listed, but the IPO shareholders of both shells had sufficient opportunity to get out of their investment with a profit after each shell closed its qualifying transaction. Therefore, by our measure, both shells were successful. Currently, Mr. Forget is the president of Groupe Forget, the owner of 70 ear clinics and hearing aid providers in Quebec. Mr. Forget is a registered audioprosthetist, which means he sells, fits, adjusts and replaces hearing aids.
