Gran Tierra Energy Inc. (GTE) added two cents to $7.02 on 4.68 million shares, after losing 20 cents yesterday following the release of its second quarter financials. Management held a conference call yesterday after the close. Net income fell to $9.1-million (U.S.) in the quarter from $45.1-million (U.S.) in the same period last year, mainly because of a loss from discontinued operations. This included a loss associated with the sale of its Argentine business unit to Madalena Energy Inc. (MVN: $0.40) in late June. Production came to 20,121 barrels of oil equivalent a day NAR (net after royalty) including the Argentine operations, or 19,857 barrels a day NAR without them. Either way, this was below analysts' predictions of 22,960 NAR, in part because of pipeline disruptions in Colombia.
