New York spot gold lost $4.10 to $1,226.50 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 6.81 points to 666.17 while the TSX Gold Index dipped one point to 164.88. Most Canadian gold miners lost ground today, although Franco-Nevada Corp. (FNV) bucked the trend, adding $1.62 to $85.91 on 734,000 shares. The company earned $52.1-million (U.S.) in its third quarter. Centerra Gold Inc. (CG) went the other way, dropping 25 cents to $5.34 on 625,000 shares

David Fennell and Rejean Gourde's Reunion Gold Corp. (RGD), up one-half cent to 19 cents on 354,000 shares, has received assays of up to 20.81 grams of gold per tonne over 3.7 metres from the Nivre West zone at Dorlin, in French Guiana. The assays, from the first 25 holes of the latest drill program testing extensions of the Nivre deposit, also returned 3.86 grams per tonne over 18 metres from Nivre South. Mr. Gourde, president and chief executive officer, says he was pleased that the assays confirmed the historical results and showed increased size potential. He expects Reunion will be able to expand the historical resources by extending the mineralization footprint to the north and south of the existing deposit.
