New York spot gold rose $3.20 to $1,206.90 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 5.80 points to 720.25 while the TSX Gold Index rose 0.13 point to 157.74. Most Canadian gold miners moved little today, although Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV), strong yesterday, lost 45 cents to $20.31 on 386,000 shares today. New Gold Inc. (NGD) was also weak. It lost 13 cents to $1.31 on 8.14 million shares. China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) went the other way, gaining 15 cents to $2.10 on 1.02 million shares.

Justin Reid's Troilus Gold Corp. (TLG) jumped to an early high of $1.15 but ended the day down six cents to 95 cents on 145,000 shares. The company has discovered an extension of the J4 zone and extended the surface mineralization at the J5 zone on its Troilus project in the Val d'Or district of Quebec. These two zones are old open-pit mines that are just northeast of the company's Z87 zone, where another old mine yielded two million ounces of gold and 70,000 tonnes of copper from the mid-1990s to 2010.
