New York spot gold rose $10.80 to $1,252.30 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 0.61 points to 740.57 while the TSX Gold Index added 3.10 points to 194.64. Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) led Canadian gold miners higher today. It added 25 cents to $4.08 on 6.39 million shares. Detour Gold Corp. (DGC) also did well, gaining 59 cents to $12.41 on 1.57 million shares.
Ryan Beedie and Steven Dean's Atlantic Gold Corp. (AGB), up five cents to $1.80 on 996,000 shares, has restructured its debt. The company has arranged for a $150-million line of credit facility with the National Bank of Canada that will be used to repay its existing $110-million project loan facility. The new revolving credit facility will have a three-year term and will bear interest depending on the type of borrowing and the company's total leverage ratio at the time. (Despite the vague description, Atlantic Gold says that it expects the interest costs will be lower than it currently faces with its existing loan facility.)
