by Stockwatch Business Reporter

New York spot gold lost $1.00 to $1,277.90 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 2.16 points to 752.24 while the TSX Gold Index rose 0.10 point to 191.76. Canadian gold miners moved little today. Alacer Gold Corp. (ASR) added four cents to $2.56 on 654,000 shares, while McEwen Mining Inc. (MUX) went the other way, dropping three cents to $2.83 on 99,000 shares.

Joe Campbell's Terrax Minerals Inc. (TXR), unchanged at 41 cents on 74,000 shares, has a new president and chief executive officer: David Suda. He replaces Mr. Campbell as CEO and Stuart Rogers as president. (Mr. Campbell remains the company's chairman and Mr. Rogers is now chief financial officer, the position he held before becoming president in the fall of 2016.) Mr. Campbell lauds Mr. Suda's "people-focused leadership style and capital markets experience," calling his arrival an exciting milestone that comes at an integral time for Terrax. (The arrival of a new CEO is invariably greeted with vague platitudes; their departures are invariably met with equally vague but far less flowery comments.)
