New York spot gold rose $0.10 to $1,345.50 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange rose 6.02 points to 801.96 while the TSX Gold Index lost 0.90 point to 189.36. Klondex Mines Ltd. (KDX) led Canadian gold miners lower today, dropping seven cents to $2.95 on 167,000 shares. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) went the other way, adding 26 cents to $13.13 on 652,000 shares.
Ari Sussman and Leon Teicher's Continental Gold Inc. (CNL), up seven cents to $3.55 on 139,000 shares, has received assays of up to 83.6 grams of gold and 29.3 grams of silver per tonne over 4.25 metres at the Yaragua deposit on its Buritica project in Colombia. The assays are from two infill holes drilled within the existing measured and indicated resource at Yaragua. The second hole also did well, returning 110.21 grams of gold and 100 grams of silver per tonne across 1.95 metres. Continental Gold also completed 12 step-out holes north of the Higabra tunnel. A few of those tests yielded noteworthy hits, including 42.74 grams of gold and 10.3 grams of silver per tonne across 1.5 metres, and 115 grams of gold and 18 grams of silver across 0.7 metre.
