New York spot gold gained $3.90 to $1,284.70 on Thursday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 1.59 points to 793.20 while the TSX Gold Index slipped 0.82 point to 194.68. Endeavour Mining Corp. (EDV) led Canadian golds lower, dropping $1.06 to $21.42 on 446,000 shares, reflecting a so-so third quarter.

Nav Dhaliwal's Bonterra Resources Inc. (BTR), up four cents to 49 cents on 985,000 shares, has received assays of up to 8.2 grams of gold per tonne across 9.4 metres from drilling in the Main zone of the Gladiator project in the Urban Barry district of Quebec. Bonterra produced gold in all six of its latest holes, including 11.5 grams per tonne across five metres in a second hole, 14.0 grams per tonne across two metres in a third and 17.6 grams per tonne over 1.5 metres in a fourth. Mr. Dhaliwal, president and chief executive officer, says that Bonterra continues to establish Gladiator as a very large gold system with multiple parallel gold horizons and an expanding strike length, adding that they "appear to show signs" of increased width.
