New York spot gold gained $3.50 to $1,274.60 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 2.62 points to 783.93 while the TSX Gold Index added 1.03 points to 199.85. Most Canadian golds moved little today, although Guyana Goldfields Inc. (GUY) managed a 29-cent gain to $4.62 on 2.06 million shares.

Jim Pettit's Aben Resources Ltd. (ABN) has received assays of up to 6.7 grams of gold and 6.36 grams of silver per tonne, accompanied by 0.9 per cent copper, over 10 metres from a step-out hole at the Boundary zone on the Forrest Kerr project in the Golden Triangle district of northwestern British Columbia. Investors had apparently been expecting much more, as Aben's stock slumped to an intraday low of 24 cents before closing down 13 cents to 26 cents on 6.86 million shares. The company also has assays from three other holes drilled at the Carcass Creek zone in its phase 1 program. One was a dud; the other two managed just modest amounts of gold, silver and copper over narrow intervals.
