New York spot gold gained $4.40 to $1,331.40 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 5.61 points to 775.20 while the TSX Gold Index added 1.81 points to 204.35. Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI), down $1.65 yesterday on word it is acquiring Richmont Mines Inc. (RIC: $12.10), recovered 20 cents to $8.80 on 5.01 million shares. Guyana Goldfields Inc. (GUY) was one of a few Canadian golds to lose ground. It fell six cents to $4.42 on 1.19 million shares.

Steve Roebuck's Enforcer Gold Corp. (VEIN), up one-half cent to 16 cents on 536,000 shares, has received assays of up to 104.68 grams of gold per tonne over two metres from channel samples collected at its No. 2 North vein at Montalembert, in the Abitibi region of Quebec. The assays are from 116 samples collected at the No. 2 North, No.3 and Galena veins. The No. 2 North vein produced all the high-grade hits, with two other samples topping 100 grams per tonne over one metre. Enforcer also encountered gold in the two other veins, but with markedly lower grades. The best test from the No. 3 vein assayed 3.45 grams per tonne across 0.9 metre while Galena managed one hit of 5.09 grams per tonne over one metre.
