New York spot gold gained $0.60 to $1,266.10 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange fell 0.26 point to 785.54 while the TSX Gold Index dipped 0.46 point to 207.44. Most Canadian golds moved little again today. Klondex Mines Ltd. (KDX) had one of the better gains, adding 45 cents to $4.76 on 3.65 million shares. Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) dropped 27 cents to $21.59 on 5.47 million shares.
Elgin Wolfe and Quentin Yarie's Red Pine Exploration Inc. (RPX), up one-half cent to 10 cents on 347,000 shares, has received assays of up to 19.92 grams of gold per tonne over three metres at its Surluga deposit on its Wawa project in Northern Ontario. The high-grade assay came from a quartz zone in the southern extension of the structure associated with the old Minto mine. A second hole in the area produced 4.75 grams per tonne, also over three metres. Red Pine has now completed 13 holes in the southern extension and they all encountered the quartz zone. Assays are pending from most of the tests, but the company is already touting visible gold in all but one of them.
