New York spot gold gained $7.60 to $1,256.90 on Friday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 3.18 points to 836.27 while the TSX Gold Index lost 2.74 points to 216.50. Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) was the big mover today. It lost 52 cents to $4.22 on 7.31 million shares.

Marcy Kiesman's Durango Resources Inc. (DGO), up 11.5 cents to 18 cents on 23.53 million shares, says its Trove gold project in the Windfall Lake district of Quebec is in demand. Ms. Kiesman, president and chief executive officer, says that Durango has received "two offers this week" from unnamed sources. (She also did not say to what the offers pertained, let alone how Durango might prosper from the offered arrangements.) Ms. Kiesman says that her board of directors is reviewing the offers and she will provide further details -- "any details" would be more accurate -- as they become available.

Ms. Kiesman tells us that Durango has held the Trove project for years, adding that the company was initially interested in the area because of its "favourable geology and the possibility of regional gold discoveries being pervasive throughout the region." Durango acquired the prospect in 2010 and it did preliminary work the following year, but since then Trove has been all but forgotten. Nevertheless, Ms. Kiesman describes Trove as being "poised for discovery" -- mainly because her rivals have recently raised over $70-million for further exploration in the area. (Most of that cash went to Osisko Mining Inc. (OSK: $3.77), which raised nearly $60-million earlier this month for another big push on its high-grade Windfall Lake deposit.)
