New York spot gold slipped $0.40 to $1,335.00 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 8.87 points to 815.56 while the TSX Gold Index added 1.62 points to 274.68. Most Canadian gold miners rose today. Iamgold Corp. (IMG) added 20 cents to $7.48 on 4.81 million shares while Kinross Gold Corp. (K) gained 17 cents to $7.12 on 5.97 million shares.

Gary Thompson's Brixton Metals Corp. (BBB), up five cents to 92 cents on 62,000 shares, has received assays of up to 19 grams of gold and 136 grams of silver per tonne from a one-metre rock chip sample collected at the Aberlour zone on its Thorn project in northwestern British Columbia. Aberlour has been worked for some time. In 2004, a two-metre sample yielded 57 grams of gold and 89 grams of silver per tonne. Mr. Thompson, president and chief executive officer, says Thorn continues to show promise for both high-grade underground precious metals and large-scale open pit deposits. He says the next phases of work will include geochemical and geophysical surveying, mapping and, at last, drilling.
