New York spot gold lost $10.80 to $1,354.60 on Monday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 7.03 points to 759.15 while the TSX Gold Index rose 1.69 points to 277.24. Most Canadian gold miners moved higher despite bullion's decline, led by Goldcorp Inc. (G) up 32 cents to $26.31 on 4.76 million shares. Kirkland Lake Gold Inc. (KGI) was among the losers. It lost 13 cents to $11.94 on 1.10 million shares.

Richard Nemis's Bold Ventures Inc. (BOL), down one-half cent to five cents on 160,000 shares, has received assays of up to 0.81 gram of gold per tonne over eight metres from drilling in the Amber zone at Lac Surprise, a gold prospect in west-central Quebec. (Bold is earning a 50-per-cent interest in the project from Dr. Tom Morris's Northern Superior Resources Inc. (SUP: $0.025) through an exploration expenditure of $2-million over three years. It can add another 10 per cent by delivering a feasibility study.) Eight holes yielded varying amounts of gold, with narrower intervals producing higher grades, including one hit of 11.82 grams per tonne over 0.82 metre.
