New York spot gold fell $20.80 to $1,258.00 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange lost 11.92 points to 674.25 while the TSX Gold Index slipped 16.05 points to 215.44. Canadian gold miners took a hit today. Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM) slumped $3.88 to $58.46 on 1.67 million shares, while Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD) slid 64 cents to $5.91 on 13.19 million shares.
Robert McLeod's IDM Mining Ltd. (IDM), unchanged at 21.5 cents on 809,000 shares, has prioritized several drill targets on the Yukon gold properties it acquired from Oban Mining Corp. (OBM: $2.05) early this year. The prospective targets lie on Pluto, in the Kluane region, Mahtin, in the Mayo district, and the Golden-Oly and PDM properties in the North Canol region. When IDM acquired them in January for 18.3 million shares, Mr. McPhie, executive chairman, said the highly prospective properties offered "another great opportunity to create future shareholder value."
