New York spot gold slipped $2.30 to $1,255.80 on Tuesday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 7.13 points to 626.92 while the TSX Gold Index gained 0.01 point to 207.34. Yamana Gold Inc. (YRI) was strong again today, gaining 14 cents to $5.26 on 23.79 million shares. Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) lost 29 cents to $7.98 on 1.47 million shares.

Mark O'Dea and Cal Everett's Pilot Gold Inc. (PLG), up one cent to 68 cents on 639,000 shares, has received its first assays from a 2016 drill program at Goldstrike in southwestern Utah. The results, from the first eight reverse-circulation holes of infill and step-out drilling along a seven-kilometre-long trend, included hits of up to 2.10 grams of gold per tonne over 35.1 metres. That result was bolstered by a 13.7-metre zone that graded 4.42 grams per tonne. In all, seven of the tests returned gold over significant widths, with four of them managing at least one gram per tonne over a minimum of 27 metres. (The one dud hole apparently missed the target zone.)
