New York spot gold closed up $0.20 to $1,070.00 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange gained 1.48 points to 520.78 while the TSX Gold Index added 4.47 points to 123.48. Most Canadian gold miners were up today, led by Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM), which climbed $1.73 to $35.10 on 1.21 million shares, and Eldorado Gold Corp. (ELD), which gained 23 cents to $4.27 on 4.38 million shares.
Mark O'Dea and Christian Milau's True Gold Mining Inc. (TGM) gained one cent to 20.5 cents on 153,000 shares. The company is "in full construction" at its Karma mine in Burkina Faso, with over 1,100 employees and contractors on site. Mr. Milau, president and chief executive officer, says the project is on track for the first gold pour by the end of March, 2016. As well, he says the mine is "forecast to be funded through to production," as True Gold has over $20-million in the bank and nearly $50-million available under the company's finance facility. The remaining capital expenditures were pegged at just over $45-million on Sept. 30.
