The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Friday was a positive 71-60-159. The TSX Venture Exchange rose six points to 572 while polished diamond prices were flat. Mark Smith's Brazilian vanadium miner, Largo Resources Ltd. (LGO), closed unchanged at $3.19 on 2.49 million shares. The stock, 11 cents three years ago, got as high as $4.66 in mid-November as vanadium prices increased tenfold. Prices for both vanadium and Largo have turned cooler of late.
Bruce Counts's Lithoquest Diamonds Ltd. (LDI), up 1.5 cents to 15 cents on 38,000 shares, has recovered another diamond from its North Kimberley diamond project near the north coast of Western Australia. The latest find, an octahedral microdiamond, was recovered along with "abundant kimberlite indicator minerals" during a stream sediment and loam sampling program this year. The little diamond, which came from one of the stream sediment samples, was largely unresorbed with a pale brown colour.
